Thrilled to have you here!!!!
Hello everyone, I’m Shirley! It’s a delight to have you here at Rhea’s Palate. Introducing myself on this platform can be a bit challenging, but I genuinely enjoy sharing my thoughts and experiences with all of you. I hope you’ll find joy in exploring my journey and trying out some new recipes alongside me at Rhea’s Palate.
‘Rhea’s Palate’ is my very first foray into this platform. I’m also active on Instagram and Facebook, where I’ll be sharing my passion for cooking. As a Bangladeshi girl, I feel fortunate to have grown up surrounded by a rich tapestry of culinary traditions. This inspiration has led me to create this page as a way to share my heritage and culture with the world through delicious food.
My interest in cooking started at a very young age while helping my mom in the kitchen. During that time, I was always curious to know all the little tricks and tips of my mother’s cooking. Later on, I used to visualize that method into a different dish. Can you imagine making a foreign dish with the mixture of all kinds of Bangladeshi spices to give a homie vibe?? Sounds interesting right? I knew it! That’s when I started applying my imagination into cooking and share it with my friends and family.
It all started from childhood!!
Exploring our traditional food, combination of versatile cuisine and creative fusion.

Living in Canada was quite a challenge when it comes to make something homie style food. Although I worked it out with some foreign vegetables and fishes. That’s also a big reason let me think about those Bangladeshi kids who are eager to learn and try to make the food from origin in foreign land. Therefore, this website might become helpful platform for them to develop their cooking ideas. ‘Rhea’s Palate’ will provide dish name in both Bengali and Phonetically.

After moving to Canada, I used my mother’s recipes to prepare different Bangladeshi dishes to share with my friends from various culture. They supported me to expand my culinary skills with a wider community. This is how “Rhea’s Palate” was born. Here I will be sharing interesting Bangladeshi recipes which I have enjoyed eating and preparing growing up and also foreign dishes with Bangladeshi twist.

I came to Canada to pursue my higher education in 2018. It has been a great journey, indeed! I have been living in Vancouver Island past 6 years. The island life has made me grow in a very unique way and helped me become more confident.
Growing alone in an unknown country has inspired me to know more about myself. Throughout this whole time as a student I was experimenting the cooking skills on my own. Believe it or not, I did a lot of mistakes like, overcooking, burning food, wasting food, and the fun fact is, each time I will learn something new about cooking. I am truly blessed to come out of my comfort zone and finding myself falling in love with myself and cooking of course.

Before moving in Canada, practicing music used to be my absolute favourite thing and still it is. I used to passionately practiced Robindra Sangeet for years with my peer singers and have performed few times locally and for cassettes. I am very fond of music culture and strongly believe that it is a great gift to be nurtured.
The most amazing thing about Canada for me is exploring nature and wonder. Travelling new places, of course new local restaurants, became one of my favourite things to do apart from my lifestyle. The idea of making a cooking website or videos or having a restaurants was slowing intended from travelling different places and experiences new cuisines. Whenever my best friend and I get a weekend we love to find a place to go for a walk or on a long weekend we travel to the mainland. Basically, moving to Canada, British Columbia, made me a part time traveller. However, I do enjoy indoor or outdoor games such as putting puzzle pieces together, or badminton, etc.
