Tilapia fish curry is made with different kinds of Bangladeshi spices. In Bangladesh, we have thousands of fishes and Tilapia is one of the most common fish to cook in every houses. Tilapia Fish can be cooked as a curry or fried with lentils. We are going to introduce this delicious recipe with following few ingredients and steps.

How to make
Step 1: Clean and rinse the Tilapia fillets properly with the salt. Then, mix all the spices (salt, red chilli pepper and turmeric powder). Now on the pan warm the oil and fry tilapia fillets. Flip both sides of the fillet until it turns into golden.

Step 2: Using the same oil and pan, add cumin and onion with bit of a salt to sauté until onion is golden. After that, put garlic-ginger paste and rest of the spices to with a little bit of water to cook it in medium temp.

Step 3: Time to add chopped tomatoes and water. Put the lid on for 5/6 minutes and stir few times until the oil comes on top of the gravy.

Step 4: Add fried Tilapia and water as needed to cook the rest. Put the lid on for about 5-6 minutes in medium temp.

Step 5: The last and the best part of the curry is to add chopped cilantro and green Thai chilli. Put the lid on to let spread the fragrance.

How to serve
Once the gravy is thicken and fish is tender with a great aroma, remove the heat. It is a great combination with hot steamed basmati rice or any kinds of steamed rice.

Tilapia Fish Curry Recipe
Equipment
- Medium Size Pan
Ingredients
- 7-8 Pieces Tilapia Fillets
- ½ cup oil (reuse after frying the fish)
- ⅓ tbsp Cumin
- 2 finely chopped shallots
- 2 chopped cube tomatoes
- 5 thai Chilli
- ½ tbsp red chilli pepper powder
- ⅓ tbsp turmeric powder
- ½ tbsp garlic and ginger paste (each)
- ⅓ tbsp cumin powder
- ⅓ tbsp coriander powder
- salt (as needed)
- 1 cup water (add if needed)
- ½ chopped cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- Clean the Tilapia fish several times with salt and lukewarm water and rinse afterwards.
- Use salt, red chilli pepper powder, turmeric to mix the fish and fry until it gives golden color.
- Put aside the half fried fish, then use the same oil and pan to cook the rest. Now, add cumin, onion and bit of salt to sauté.
- When the onion turns into golden, add garlic ginger paste and all the spices including salt. Steer for about a minute and then pour chopped cube tomatoes. Add small amount of water to let the spice cook and put the lid on for 3-4 minutes.
- Once the oil comes out on top, add the half fried fish and water and put the lid on to cook it in medium temp.
- Taste the salt and spice. Add thai chilli (make sure its cut in half) and chopped cilantro. Cook it for couple minutes to let the coriander and chilli flavour mix with the gravy.
- Server it with steamed rice and enjoy the spiciness.
